There are several quatrains in the Prophecies of Nostradamus that predict the rise of Islamic State and its effects on Europe.
Soubs l'opposite climat Babylonique
Grand sera de sang effusion
Que terre et mer, air, ciel sera inique
Sectes, faim, regnes, pestes, confusion.
Under the opposite Babylonic climate
Great will be the shedding of blood
That earth and sea, air, sky will seem unjust
Sects, hunger, kingdoms, plagues, confusion. 1-55
The 'opposite Babylonic climate', is a very concise explanation of how contrary the values of Islamic State are, to the West. Certainly there is great 'shedding of blood' in Iraq and Syria with so much injustice as he implies. The 'sects' are therefore the many complex Shia and Sunni sects and many people have indeed gone hungry. The plagues perhaps are yet to come, but no one can doubt the confusion which is occurring through so many kingdoms on Earth. The following quatrain, 1-56, probably continues this theme:
Vous verrez tost et tard faire grand change
Horrors extremes et vindications
Que si la lune conduicte par son ange
le ciel s'approche des inclinations. 1-56
You will see sooner and later great change made
Extreme horrors and vengeances
As the Moon is led to its angel
The sky approaches its inclinations.
The 'great change' is probably the effects of the conflicts in the Middle East and Africa with the resultant mass flight of refugees. 'Extreme horrors and vengeances' have already occurred in Syria and Iraq. The Moon is astrologically linked to sadness and one must assume that the last line is pointing to a great change during the cycle of ages.

One who revives the infernal gods of Hannibal
Terror of humanity
Never more horror no longer will the papers say
That will come through Babel to the Romans.
The 'infernal gods of Hannibal' must relate to Baal Hammon, tutelary deity of Carthage, among others and thus relate to Saturn/Chronos in the Greek myth of him eating his own children. Certainly Islamic State are not averse to murdering children as well of other attrocities, Babel being Babylon in Iraq. The Romans are either the Italians, subject to the consequent migrant flow from Libya, or its the E.U., described as 'the Roman king of Belgium' in 5-13, noted in my companion blog, 'The boat people in the Prophecies of Nostradamus'.

New law occupies a new land

The great barbarian empire crumbles

A 'new law' certainly is found in the 'new land' of Islamic State' exactly as he predicts towards Syria and Palestine. Presumably 'The great barbarian empire' is Islamic State, which will 'crumble'; but the last line is more difficult to determine.

He will enter, wicked, infamous
Tyrannizing over Mesopotamia
All friends made by the adulterous of soul
Horrible land black of aspect.
Mesopotamia is the ancient name for Iraq. Its tyranny from Islamic State is now apparent, as he relates 'wicked, infamous'.The 3rd line is quite extraordinary in this context, because it is via 'friends' on social media websites such as Facebook, that young recruits are being radicalised; his 'adulterous of soul' is a brilliant description and recruited to Islamic State, so 'black of aspect'. A concise and inspired description of a venomous threat.
