The Twin Towers at 9/11 in the Prophecies of Nostradamus

I first published these three Nostradamus prophecies concerning the destruction of the Twin Towers in Sept 11 2001, in my book The Treasure of St Remy published in 2002, ISBN 1-84426-167-0:

Cris, pleurs, larmes viendront avec couteaux
Semblant fouir donront dernier assault.
Lentour parques planter profons plateaux
Vifs repoulsez et meurdris de prinsault. 10-82

Cries, tears, weeping will come with knives
Seeming to take refuge they will make a last assault.
Around the parks they will set up deep platforms
Quickly repulsed and murdered instantly.

The hijackers certainly did use knives to cause such tears and they had to take refuge and hide their identity before making their last suicidal assault. The World Trade Centre is precisely described as being in an area of 'deep (or high) platforms', his term for skyscrapers. The parks appear to be street names that surround the building; Park Place and Park Row two streets to the north and north east, Battery Park six streets to the south, while Battery Park City to the south west, tour guides inform us, is actually built upon the excavated material dug out from under the World Trade Centre when it was constructed. 'Quickly repulsed' is perhaps the air passengers failed attempt to retake the plane and 'murdered instantly' was clearly the result of the impact of the plane as it crashed.
The following quatrain 10-83, continues the theme:

The battle signal will not be given (initial anger against Afghanistan by the USA gave way to caution due to the dangers involved in attacking such hostile terrain where one million Russians previously were casualties), From the park they will be obliged to go out (the entire area of South Manhattan, including the four above mentioned park place names, had to be abandoned) From Gand and around will be recognised the banner. He who will put all his followers to death. 10-83

There can be little doubt that the last line refers to the followers of Osama Bin Laden, so willing to commit suicide for their cause. Everything now hinges on the place name 'Gand'. It is clearly not Gand or Ghent in Belgium, but in fact refers to the area around Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, which was where the Taliban emerged from and where Osama Bin Laden had his bases. Nostradamus would have read Strabo (Book xv,C,I,26) who calls that region Gandaritis and called the Gandara in other sources. The 'banner' therefore, is thus the banner of Al Quada.
Again, the preceding quatrain 10-81, concerns itself with global Capitalism, which our seer ironically compares with the religious worship it has replaced, hinting at the root cause of 9/11:

Treasure is placed in a temple by Western citizens, Withdrawn therein to a secret place. The temple open to hungry bonds, recaptured, ravished a terrible prey in the midst. 10-81

The first line is sheer brilliance: 'Western citizens' do indeed invest in 'hungry bonds' on Wall Street, which lies so close to the World Trade Centre, that it had to be shut down for several days. But it was precisely using those very Capitalistic means that secret monies were invested to finance the hijackings and, of course, the hijackers themselves withdrew to secret locations. The 'temple open' is an ironic reference to this basic flaw in Western Capitalism which the hijackers could exploit, which the authorities had to recapture after being ravished. 'A terrible prey in the midst' could be either party in this terrible war, where only ordinary citizens will lose their lives, either through terror brought to the streets of New York, or from the failed attempt by the Capitalistic model to impose its world view on the Arab world. Nostradamus appears to imply by the term 'hungry bonds' a replacement of holy endeavour in the spiritual temple by a rampant materialism, anathema to Al Quaeda and other fundamentalists.
Other companion blogs will continue these up to date Prophecies of Nostradamus, on the themes of Islamic State, the boat people, Charlie Hebdo, the Hubble space Telescope and other modern technology and other interrelated strands in current affairs.
