The boat people from Libya in the Prophecies of Nostradamus

Out of about 942 published in the Prophecies of Nostradamus, about 60 mention the Middle East and Turkey by name, with a few others unnamed. Contrast this, with the almost complete lack of mention of the Far East. Clearly, he appears to be concerned with future events in this troubled region to the point that there appear to be anything up to 30 quatrains which discuss Islamic State and the boat people refugees. These seem to outline a consistent narrative, especially in its effects on Europe.

De l'Orient viendra la coeur Punique
Facher Hadrie et les hoirs Romulides
Accompagne de la classe Libyque
Temples Mellites et proches isles vuides.   1-9

From the Orient will come the Punic heart
To anger Hadrie and the heirs of Romulus
Accompanied by the Libyan fleet
Temples Maltese and close isles empty.

'From the Orient' is the Middle East and 'Punic' refers to Carthage, long time enemy of Rome; hence 'the heirs of Romulus' and Hadrie (the Roman emperor Hadrian). The result of the flight of the boat people refugees from Libya to Malta and the close islands like Sicily is a question over sanctuary, which temples once provided but which European countries don't wish to provide. This quatrain provides an astonishing range of geographical place names which fit the current situation, as it certainly is Italy under strain in this present crisis.

Les exiles en Sicile viendront
Pour delivrer de faim la gent estrange
Au point du jour les Celtes lui faudront
La vie demeure a raison, Roi se range.      2-71

The exiles in Sicily will come
For delivering from hunger the foreign people
At daybreak the Celts will fail them
Life lives by right, The king joins in alliance.

The boat people do arrive in Sicily, thereby being saved from their hunger and deprivation. The 'Celts' are  presumably the British, who are refusing to take these refugees in, so perhaps 'Life lives (or remains) by right is a reference to European human rights which the British Tory government are seeking to withdraw from, but perhaps a new regime will  rejoin the European alliance, though this looks like a future prophecy.

Grand Pau grand mal pour Gaulois recevra
Vaine terreur au maritin Lyon
Peuple infini par la mer passera
Sans eschapper un quart d'un million.         2-94

Great Po great harm for the French to receive
Vain terror to the maritime lion
Infinite people will pass by the sea
Without escaping a quarter of a million.

On 6th June 2015, BBC Radio 4 news announced that half a million refugees were already in Libya, with vast numbers heading there as well. We know that a large proportion of these will lose their lives crossing the Sahara or Asia and then in the Mediterrean Sea crossing. Nostradamus specifies a quarter of a million will die, 'Without escaping', as he informs us. Manwhile, British lorry drivers are avoiding the Calais sea crossing, being under sometimes violent threat from desperate migrants attempting to stow away in their trucks. The 'maritime lion' is probably the European fleet stationed  off Libya in 'vain', due to the sheer numbers that will attempt to cross. If 'Pau' is the River Po in North Italy, then a huge tide of refugees will cross there into France and overwhelm the country.

En lieu bien proche non esloigne de Venus
Les deux plus grans de l'Asie et d'Affrique
Du Rhin et Hister qu'on dira sont venus
Cris, pleurs a Malte et coste Ligustique.      4-68

In a place very close not far from Venus
The two most great from Asia and Africa
From Rhine and Danube that one will say are come
Cries, tears to Malta and the Ligurian coast.

'Venus' as a place is possibly either Cyprus, where the Goddess was born and lived or more likely Syria, where as Atargatis she was called 'Dea Syria' the Syrian goddess and precursor of classical Venus in Cyprus, as Heredotus informs us in the C6th BC. The boat people are refugees from both Asia and Africa, fleeing conflict from Syria and from places like war torn Somalia; so perhaps 'The two most great' groups of refugees. Rhine and Hister, an old name for the Danube, refers to the E.U. once more attempting to deal with the tears of refugees in Malta and entering into Italy, where the Ligurian coast is. There appears to be some ironic comment of the perceived lack of help from Europe in the phrase 'that one will say are come'.

Par grand fureur le roi Romain Belgique
Vexer vouldra par phalange barbare
Fureur grinsseant chassera gent Libyque
Despuis Pannons jusques Hercules la hare      5-13

In great fury the Roman king of Belgium
Will wish to trouble by barbarian warriors
In gnashing fury will chase Libyan people
From Hungary as far as Gibraltar.

This is a stunning prophecy of unbelievable accuracy ! 'The Roman king of Belgium' is so obviously the E.U., being a modern version of the Holy Roman Empire based in Belgium. Wow is all I can say !
The great fury of the E.U. is concerned with barbarian warriors of Islamic State as well as warlords in Somalia, Afghanistan and so on, who are chasing from Libya a vast tide of refugees into Europe; as he says, 'From Hungary as far as Gibraltar' (note hare is probably a variant reading of bare meaning column, so the Columns of Hercules at Gibraltar). Pannonia is the ancient name of what is now Hungary and it is remarkable that it is precisely in Hungary, during August and September 2015, that the crisis loomed largest when the Hungarian government built a razor wire fence along the entire length of its border with Serbia. At the same time, it refused to allow the refugees to pass into Austria and Germany where they would be afforded safety, but under European pressure they are starting to relent on this policy. Once again, Nostradamus has emphasised Hungary in relation to the migration crisis with absolute accuracy and in my companion blog, 'The boat people, possible references in the Prophecies of Nostradamus', Hungary or Pannonia, appears to be cited in exactly the same context in quatrains 5-47 and 5-48 and possibly 5-89.
The following quatrain, 5-14, appears to continue this theme:

Saturne et Mars en Leo Espaigne captifve
Par chef Libyque au conflict attrape
Proche de Malthe, Heredde prinse vive
Et Romain sceptre sera par coq frappe.     5-14

Saturn and Mars in Leo, Spain captive
By Libyan chief in battle taken
Near to Malta, Heredde captured alive
And Roman sceptre smitten by a cock.

'Spain captive' by the Libyan boat people, is not hard to imagine, as the refugees pour in and 'battle taken' is presumably the current civil war in Libya itself. Once again, he confirms that it is 'Near to Malta' that the refugees will land and the 'Roman sceptre', being the aforementioned ruling E.U., is smitten by the aggressive cock of Islamic extremism. Heredde requires further research.

Its feasible, that both the two preceding quatrains, 5-11 and less likely, 5-12, are relevant to this boat people theme.

By the Sun, will not cross sea safely
Those of Venus will hold all of Africa
Their kingdom Saturn no longer occupies
And will change the Asian part.          5-11

If the first line is people of the Sun, then it would be those from warmer climes who certainly cannot cross the Mediterranean Sea safely and the mention of both Asia and Africa would be relevant. I noted earlier that Dea Syria was the goddess Venus, so perhaps 'Those of Venus' could be Islamic state in Syria having control of Libya ?

Companion blogs will deal with other possible boat people quatrains, and his prophecies concerning, Islamic State, Charlie Hebdo, 9/11, the Hubble Space Telescope and other subjects.
